Privacy, in plain words
Last updated: 8 October 2026 (added the app waitlist)
The short version: Toto Chess has no accounts, no ads, no chat and no analytics. What your child does in the game stays on your device. We don’t collect it, so we don’t have it. The only thing we ever store is a grown-up’s email address, and only if you choose to join the app waitlist.
What the app saves, and where
To remember your child’s progress, the app saves a few things: a name or nickname you type, the age group, an avatar, lessons and puzzles completed, stars and trophies, the games played, and your settings (such as a play-time limit and your PIN).
- In the Android and iOS apps this is saved on the phone or tablet.
- On the web version this is saved in your browser’s own storage, on that device. If you clear the browser’s site data, or use a private window, it is erased.
None of it is sent to us or to anyone else. You can erase it at any time from the Grown-ups zone, which is behind your PIN.
What we don’t do
- The game never asks for an email address, a password or a sign-up. (Only the optional waitlist form on this website asks for an email, from a grown-up.)
- We don’t show ads or use advertising or tracking tools.
- We don’t use analytics, and we don’t set tracking cookies.
- We don’t let anyone message or contact your child through the app.
- We don’t sell or share information about children.
The app waitlist
The Android and iOS apps are not in the stores yet. If a grown-up joins the waitlist on this website, we store three things: the email address, which app you said you want (Android, iPhone and iPad, or both), and the date you joined. They are kept in a small database at Cloudflare, who host this website.
- We use the email once, to tell you when the app is ready, and nothing else.
- We don’t share it, sell it, or use it for ads or for anything unrelated.
- We don’t store your IP address or any information about your child.
- To be removed, email [email protected] from the same address and we will delete it.
Please use a grown-up’s email address. Children should not join the waitlist themselves.
Toto’s voice
Toto’s voice comes from recorded clips that are part of the app. Where there is no recording, the app uses your device’s own text-to-speech voice. Nothing your child says is recorded: the app doesn’t use the microphone.
About this website
This website is hosted by Cloudflare, which, like any web host, handles the technical request that brings you the page (for example, your IP address, so it can reply). We don’t add analytics to the site. The home page’s fonts, pictures and icons are served from the site itself, and it sets no cookies.
One honest detail about the web version of the game (at totochess.app/play): to draw colourful emoji, it may ask Google’s font servers (fonts.gstatic.com) for a standard emoji font file. That request carries no information about your child or their progress, but, like any web request, it shows your IP address to Google. The Android and iOS apps use the phone’s own emoji and don’t make this request.
Children
Toto Chess is made for children, to be set up and supervised by a grown-up. Because nothing is collected, there is no child data for us to hold, share or delete on request: it is on your device, under your control.
